Why "Gods Favorite" Has No Apostrophe: Kevin Fuller’s Vision for Coffee and Community

If you’re the kind of person who carries a red pen in your pocket just to correct restaurant menus, we probably owe you an apology. Or, more accurately, an explanation.

At Gods Favorite Coffee, the missing apostrophe is the first thing people notice. It’s the "itch" that grammar enthusiasts just can’t scratch. "Is it one God? Is it many gods? Is it a typo?" The answer is yes, no, and definitely not.

When Kevin Fuller founded this company, the lack of punctuation wasn’t a mistake made in a caffeine-deprived haze. It was a declaration. It was the first act of rebellion in a brand built on breaking the rules of the "corporate coffee" machine.

In a world obsessed with ownership, possession, and "this belongs to me," Kevin wanted a name that belonged to everyone.

Grammatically Incorrect, Spiritually Spot On

The missing apostrophe is about inclusion. If we wrote "God’s Favorite," we’d be making a claim about a specific deity’s personal preference. We’d be putting a fence around the brand. But Gods Favorite (no apostrophe) is a plural, a collective, and a universal truth all at once.

Kevin’s vision was simple: coffee is the great equalizer. Whether you believe in one God, many gods, the universe, or just the cold, hard science of a perfectly extracted bean, this coffee is for you. It’s the idea that whatever higher power you subscribe to: if they were to walk into a kitchen at 6:00 AM: they’d be reaching for our bag.

"It’s not about religion," Kevin often says while flipping a jazz record in the roastery. "It’s about the soul. It’s about that divine feeling you get when the world is quiet and the coffee is perfect. You don’t need a permit or a specific set of beliefs to access that. You just need a mug."

Enter the Congregation

We don’t have "customers." We have a Congregation.

In the early days, Kevin realized that the best conversations didn't happen in boardrooms; they happened over dregs of coffee in smoke-filled basements and late-night diners. The people who gravitate toward Gods Favorite are the seekers, the artists, the rebels, and the real souls who know that life is too short for "filler" coffee.

The Congregation is a community of people who value the ritual over the routine. When you buy a bag of The Foundation or The First-Called, you aren't just a line item in a ledger. You’re part of a movement that prioritizes real over perfect.

Kevin’s commitment to the Congregation means we don't follow trends. We don't do pumpkin spice theater or 1,000-calorie milkshakes disguised as coffee. we do Real Coffee for Real Souls. We do the kind of coffee that keeps you honest.

The Holy Grail of Sourcing: From Ethiopia to Brazil

You can't call something "divine" if it’s sourced with shortcuts. Kevin’s vision for the brand is rooted in a deep respect for the craft, which starts thousands of miles away from our roastery.

While the big-box brands are busy blending cheap beans to hit a price point, Kevin is obsessing over direct trade. We know our farmers. We know the soil. We know that the bright, citrusy notes of an Ethiopian light roast aren't just "flavor profiles": they are the result of generations of hard work.

Our beans are hand-selected from the world’s most iconic regions:

  • Brazil: For that deep, nutty base that defines our Dark Roasts.
  • Ethiopia: Where the coffee is as vibrant and complex as the history of the bean itself.
  • Colombia & Mexico: For the balanced, chocolatey goodness that makes our Medium Roasts a daily necessity.

Every batch is roasted to order. This isn't coffee that sits in a warehouse for six months gathering dust. When you order, we roast. It’s a direct line from the farm to our roaster to your front door. No middlemen, no "markup theater."

Meet the Apostles

To honor the spirit of the ritual, Kevin named our roasts after the Apostles. Each one has a personality, a "spirit" that lives in the cup.

  • The First-Called: Inspired by Andrew, this is our bold, adventurous medium roast. With notes of chocolate almond and maple syrup, it’s designed to be your first companion of the day.
  • The Foundation: Our dark roast Brazilian coffee. It’s the rock upon which your morning is built: strong, reliable, and unapologetic.
  • The Zealot: A French Roast-inspired dark roast for those who take their caffeine with a side of intensity.
  • The Traveler: A light roast blend that’s as curious and bright as a journey to a new city.
  • The Betrayer: Our Swiss Water Decaf. Because even when you’ve betrayed your caffeine habit, you shouldn't have to betray your taste buds.

Each bag is a chapter in a larger story: a story of craft, soul, and the pursuit of something better.

The Analog Soul: Roasted to Rhythm

If you ever walk into the roastery while Kevin is working, you won't hear a Top 40 radio station. You’ll hear the crackle of a vinyl record.

"Every batch runs to a record," Kevin says. "Jazz on Tuesdays, Soul on Saturdays."

This "Analog Soul" is at the heart of everything we do. In a digital world that’s moving too fast, we’re advocates for the slow and the sacred. The ritual of grinding your beans, the smell of the bloom, the patience of a pour-over: these are the moments that make us human.

We established Gods Favorite Coffee Co. in 1994, but its soul was born in 1972. It’s a throwback to a time when things were made to last, when quality wasn't a marketing buzzword, and when a cup of coffee was an invitation to stay a while and talk.

Your Invitation to the Table

So, back to that missing apostrophe.

It’s not there because we don't want to "own" the favor of the gods. We want to share it. Kevin Fuller didn't build this company to be a gated community; he built it to be a sanctuary for anyone who gives a damn about what’s in their cup.

You don't have to believe in anything to be welcome here. You just have to believe that life is too short for bad coffee.

Join the Congregation. Grab a bag of The Divine Collection. Put on a record, find a quiet corner, and see for yourself why we don't need an apostrophe to prove that this coffee is something special.

Welcome to the family. No red pens required.
